I was kind of enjoying this Left 4 Dead fan film until… well you’ll see what I mean. Worth a watch nonetheless for its bold spin.

Well it’s here. I’ve spent nearly 100 hours traversing Tamriel’s northernmost province, and I am only just beginning to feel I have an honest understanding of this world Bethesda has created. Note I say honest, and not thorough. There’s simply far too much to explore.
I have, however, been the Dovahkiin, and I have lived in Skyrim, and I am here to say that it is incredible. Not without flaws. Not without realistic and significant flaws. But nonetheless absolutely incredible and a rare achievement in PC gaming.
Gotta admit, I am completely new to PC gaming. But, I have experimented with some totally awesome games that I have been introduced to and which I think a womany woman (like myself) would enjoy. Here are our top 5 womany games to play with your girlfriend, by me, a girlfriend.
We here at Uninstalled Gaming are desperately trying to pass the time until Friday’s Skyrim release. We tried Battlefield 3 (not bad, hopefully a review to come). We tried doing that cool thing where you throw your pencil into your ceiling and it sticks (which created a lot of havoc in my office). In one moment of weakness, we even tried associating with our families. But then it hit us! What’s better than multiplayer shooters, throwing phallic shaped objects, and your pain in the ass “loved ones”? Top ten lists, that’s what! So in honor of Skyrim’s upcoming release, we are counting down the top 10 RPGs of all time. (Continued)
Bethesda’s blog announced that as of November 4th the code for Skyrim has gone gold. This worries me a little, as one week before release strikes me as being a quick turnaround from going gold to manufacturing, shipping, and distributing. Couple this with Bethesda’s notoriously buggy releases and the push for the gimmicky 11-11-11 release date, well you would be forgiven for being a little concerned. Listen, there’s no doubt in my mind that through patches and mods Skyrim will be a great game, perhaps one of the greatest. However, the smell test is indicating that we will not be getting that great game this Friday. Early adopters beware.
The second bit of this story is that on that same day (Nov 4) the Spike TV Video Game Awards announced Skyrim as being a candidate for GOTY on their VGA award show. Both of Spike TV’s viewers told me they thought it was a bit silly to nominate an unfinished, unreleased game for GOTY, but the rest of society went right on living their lives completely unaware of the existence of the basic cable channel.
Movies about the wild west were popular for a long time, and have even gone through recent periods of resurgence (I cite the excellent 3:10 To Yuma remake). They would bring us a harsh and unforgiving environment that offered a sense of adventure that could be mastered by a rugged and strong protagonist. Audiences see themselves in the protagonist (valid or not) and conquer the “wild” freedom of the unsettled west in their imaginations. This is what Bastion offers: an unsettled and widely unique world that no one has ever seen before that’s just begging to be explored and conquered.
Today is the day indicated that their would be trailer for GTA fiVe. That day is today. As such, we have the trailer for you after the break. As well as our thoughts.
A new video (after the break) showing what Quake would be like if it was made today in the Call of Battle Dutyfield Modern Ops era has surfaced on YouTube. I actually swelled up with pride during the second half of the video, showing off the legitimacy of the “old school” shooter.
Here’s a question: Are the Modern Warfare games casual games? There’s a decent effort among the hardcore gaming community to legitimize casual games. If our mom’s and girlfriends can enjoy Plants v. Zombies, we credit the game as being both fun and including more people into our favorite hobby. However, we discredit the frat boy dude-bro’s who love Modern Warfare. Maybe there is such a thing as a triple-A casual game with a $60 price tag. Anyway, check out the video below.
Piranha Games has given us quite the Halloween treat, and that’s an announcement about the upcoming MechWarrior Online PC exclusive game. You can check out their website and even register your pilot’s name (sorry but yours truly has already snatched up EggSchell). They’re definitely writing some serious checks in these early days with this press release. Read on for my thoughts.
Perhaps most well known for their Call of Juarez franchise, developer Techland has released another zombie smashing game into the market. Wait, hold on, don’t go just yet. For better or worse, this isn’t exactly Left 4 Dead or Killing Floor. Dead Island is a first person action RPG with the fictional Oceanic island of Banoi serving as your “open world” backdrop to explore. Touted as being a new zombie experience, the question arises: is this game worth calling your friends over?
